chapters 7 & 8- Atticus

Chapter 7
This evening, Jem asked me about this tree by the Radly's lot. He was wondering if it was dying and I didn't think it was because the leaves were green and full and there was no brown patches. Then he urgently interrupted me and asked if it was sick. I did't have a clue why he was asking me these random questions. He said Mr. Nathan Radly said it was dying. I had to admit, he was maybe right because Mr. Radly would probably know more about his trees than I would. So, I left the porch with Jem and Scout on it before Scout started asking me strange questions.

Chapter 8

We had two weeks of the coldest weather since 1885. This morning when I was shaving in the bathroom, I heard screams coming from Scout's bedroom. I ran to see what was wrong. She told me the world was ending, but it was really just snowing outside. I, like Jem and Scout have never seen snow before. During breakfast, Eula May called and said that there will be no school today. Then, Jem asked me how to build a snowman, but I didn't have the slightest idea and didn't think there would be enough snow for it. That was when Calpurnia said it was sticking. When I was at work, Jem and Scout called telling me they had a big surprise for me. When I got home, the back yard and front yard surprised me, my kids did a jim-dandy job. But when I saw the snowman, I knew that I never had to worry about what will become of Jem, he always did have an idea. I then stepped back and squinted and what amused me was that I couldn't tell what Jem was going to be because of all the talents he has. But he had to disguise the snowman because he couldn't go around making caricatures of the neighbors. Especially this snowman that looked like Mr. Avery!
